BATB distributes relief

British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB), yesterday distributed relief among the flood and erosion-affected farmers, registered with the company in Manikganj district.

BATB Manikgonj Leaf Region organised the four-day relief distribution programme that ended yesterday.

BATB distributed 135 tube-wells, 5 tonnes of rice, 1.5 tonnes of lentil, 10,000 oral saline packets and 10,000 pain killer tablets among the farmers. BATB Managing Director (in charge) Gulam Mainuddin distributed the relief materials among the flood victims.

Apart from the relief programme, the company also provided free medical service through Surjer Hasi, a non-government organisation, to the flood affected people.

While briefing on the last day of the relief programme, Mainuddin said, "BATB has decided to expand its relief programme for the farmers through out the country."
