Rakib Ahmed talks about old photography in the new age
An art talk, featuring fine art photographer and cameraman Rakib Ahmed was held at 3rd Space in Dhanmondi, recently. In the age of digital manipulations, Ahmed continues to use the age-old practice of Wet Collodion in his work to produce images. Wet Collodion is an early photography technique that involves the use of chemicals, solutions and coating a glass plate with the mixture to develop photographs quickly. The event was hosted by Arafat Ahmed Ali.

The 11th death anniversary of Professor Zia Hyder, an icon of modern theater in Bangladesh, will be observed today at his ancestral hometown in Pabna today. Two schools, both named Zia Hyder Progoti Biddaloy, were built there in his honour.

Azmeer Hossain’s world of artistic creation
Artist Azmeer Hossain loves to experiment with technicality and compositional patterns in his works. He spent his childhood at the bank of the Buriganga, Dhaka, and lived in Coney Island, New York, in his youth, for his higher education. Visiting the Buriganga, the Hudson, the beaches of Coney Island and a plethora of places for outdoor projects has hugely inspired him. Many of his paintings are based on landscapes, cityscapes and mindscapes.

Mustafa Monwar’s contribution in fine arts has been unparalleled since decades. Starting from his puppeteering during the Liberation war, his creativity extends to almost all forms of art, including painting, performance, and sculpting. He is a producer, TV and radio programme director, among other things. Currently, he is the Chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy, and a professor of the Department of Drawing and Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka.
