Bank Asia spearheads Bangla QR awareness drive in Bhola

Bank Asia PLC has taken the lead in promoting awareness of Bangla QR, an initiative of Bangladesh Bank aimed at accelerating the adoption of cashless transactions across the country.

A diverse group of people, including students, teachers, businessmen, customers, bank officials, representatives of mobile financial service providers (MFS) and members of the wider community, took part in the event.

Md Mofijur Rahman Khan Chowdhury, executive director of Bangladesh Bank’s Barishal office, inaugurated the programme as the chief guest in Bhola recently, according to a press release.

The programme featured a seminar, presentations, a rally, open discussions and awareness campaigns, highlighting the benefits, convenience and ease of using Bangla QR for everyday transactions.

It particularly focused on educating local merchants, small businesses and customers about digital payment solutions and the advantages of Bangla QR, a one-stop digital payment solution for transactions through participating banks and MFS apps.

Mohd Ziaul H Molla, additional managing director of Bank Asia PLC, presided over the event.

Bank Asia is actively working in line with Bangladesh Bank’s vision and initiatives to expand digital financial services and strengthen financial inclusion across the country.

As one of the pioneering banks in Bangladesh’s digital financial transformation, Bank Asia has been actively involved in Bangla QR since its pilot phase, playing a key role in promoting interoperable digital payments and accelerating the country’s transition towards a cashless economy.

Md Hafizur Rahman, director of Bangladesh Bank’s Barishal office; Md Mahmudur Rahman, additional director; Md Abu Rayhan, assistant commissioner of the district commissioner’s office in Bhola; Md Raisul Alam, director of the Bhola Chamber of Commerce; and Md Moniruzzman Khan, head of alternative delivery channel at Bank Asia PLC, were also present.
