Citizens Bank, Nagad partner to expand digital financial services

Citizens Bank PLC has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Nagad Limited, the mobile financial service of the Bangladesh Post Office, to make financial services easier, faster and more convenient for customers.

Md Abdul Latif, deputy managing director of the bank, and Afzal Ahmed, chief financial officer of the MFS, signed the agreement at a ceremony held at the bank’s head office in Dhaka recently, according to a press release.

Under the agreement, the business partnership between the two institutions will be further expanded. Through Citizens Bank, customers will be able to add money to their Nagad wallets. Nagad will also make it easier for expatriates to send remittances through Citizens Bank to their families in remote areas across the country.

At the same time, the partnership will facilitate customer integration and simplify the onboarding process, enabling more people to access digital financial services.

Alamgir Hossain, managing director of the bank, and Syed Himyanuddin Ahmed, senior associate administrator of the MFS, attended the signing ceremony.

The partnership is expected to play an important role in expanding cashless transactions across the country, the release added.

Md Mostafizur Rahman, deputy managing director of the bank; Mohammad Saiful Islam, chief financial officer; Abdur Rouf Bhuiyan, head of principal branch; and Mazibur Rahman, executive vice-president; and Bijoy Chandra Das, head of SMR and marketing division, attended the event.

Probal Ahmed, senior associate administrator of Nagad; Md Ajharul Haque, associate administrator; Abid Khan, head of treasury and merchant operations; Debabratha Kumar Chanda (Palash), head of distributor management and SOC; Md Saidur Rahman Dipu, head of business sales; and Md Ahsanul Hoque Bashar, head of remittance, along with other senior officials from both organisations, were also present.
