Grameen Bank opens GPay experience booth with Shamadhan Services
Grameen Bank and Shamadhan Services Limited, a fintech arm of Grameen Telecom Trust, jointly launched an experience booth titled “GPay” to ensure transparency and inclusion in financial transactions at the grassroots level.
Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, chairman of the bank, and Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui, chief executive officer of the fintech company, jointly inaugurated the booth at the bank’s head office in Dhaka recently, according to a press release.
On the occasion, Hannan said, “There is no alternative to digital transactions to ensure transparency in financial transactions at the grassroots level and financial inclusion.”
“Grameen Bank has reached a milestone in its 50-year journey, and technological transformation is essential to keep pace with global advancement in the next 50 years,” he added. Armaan said, “To ensure the use of the app, we have kept 24/7 support and a helpline operational. With Bangla QR code and various other services, it will function as a complete digital wallet.”
Md Ashraful Hassan, chairman of Grameen Group; Nazneen Sultana, director of the bank; and Sarder Akhter Hamed, managing director, along with other officials from both organisations, were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
