Kashem re-elected chairman of Southeast Bank

MA Kashem, founder chairman and sponsor director of Southeast Bank PLC, has been re-elected chairman of the bank.

The election was held at the bank’s 796th board meeting yesterday, according to a press release.

He is a member and former chairman of the Board of Trustees of North South University and a founder life member of the NSU Trust Foundation.

He is also the chairman of Rose Corner (Pvt.) Limited.

As an industrialist, Kashem served as president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, chairman of FBCCI’s Arbitration Tribunal and chairman of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh.

He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Bangladesh and president of SAHIC Trust.

He is a life member of the Society for Assistance to Hearing Impaired Children.

He established a trust named M Kashem Trust to promote education among primary- and secondary-level students in his locality.

The trust has established a 20-bed Tareque Memorial-Ibrahim General Hospital in Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni.

He set up Kashem Complex at Darogarhat in Chhagalnaiya, which contains a madrasa, mosque, Eidgah, public graveyard and other training centres, and built free houses for poor and destitute people in his locality.

Kashem is a member of the Rotary Club of Dhaka West, Bangladesh Diabetic Association, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and Shishu Hospital in Chittagong.
