Mehmood Husain re-elected chairman of IFIC Bank

Md Mehmood Husain has been re-elected as the chairman of IFIC Bank PLC.

The election was held at the bank’s 986th meeting of the board of directors at its head office in Dhaka recently, according to a press release.

Mehmood was appointed as an independent director of the bank on September 4, 2024, following the reconstitution of the board by Bangladesh Bank, and was elected chairman on September 8, 2024.

He began his professional banking career in 1984 and brings nearly four decades of experience in banking and financial services.

He has also served as the managing director of several banks for more than a decade.

Mehmood obtained his bachelor’s (honours) and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Dhaka.
