Prime Bank joins BB schemes for green, ICT financing
Prime Bank PLC has signed two participation agreements with Bangladesh Bank, becoming a participating financial institution (PFI) under the central bank’s refinance schemes for green factory buildings and industries, and the development of the ICT sector.
Faisal Rahman, chief executive officer of Prime Bank PLC, and AKM Nurunnabi, director of the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank, signed the agreements at a ceremony held recently at the central bank’s head office in Dhaka, according to a press release.
Under the schemes, Bangladesh Bank provides access to low-cost financing to support the development of green factory buildings and industries, as well as projects in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.
As a participating financial institution, Prime Bank will facilitate refinance-supported financing for eligible entrepreneurs investing in sustainable industrial development and ICT-related initiatives.
The participation reinforces Prime Bank’s focus on sustainable finance, responsible banking and inclusive economic growth.
By joining the schemes, the bank aims to support entrepreneurs in adopting greener industrial practices, developing environmentally sustainable infrastructure and advancing technology-driven solutions.
Prime Bank’s participation also reflects its commitment to working alongside Bangladesh Bank to promote sustainable investment and expand access to financing for emerging sectors of the economy.
Through these initiatives, the bank continues to contribute to the development of a more resilient, technology-enabled and future-ready economy.
Senior officials from both institutions attended the signing ceremony.
