Shu appointed Chevron Bangladesh president

Shu Xiong has been appointed president and managing director of Chevron Bangladesh, effective August 1, 2026.

She succeeds Eric M Walker, who led Chevron Bangladesh for the past six years, according to a press release issued on Saturday.

Before taking up the Bangladesh role, Shu served as managing director of Chevron’s China Business Unit, where she oversaw the company’s upstream business and energy value-chain activities while building partnerships across multiple joint venture operations.

Since joining Chevron in 2007, she has held senior leadership roles in strategy, forecasting, trading, operations and planning. Her responsibilities have included advising senior executives, supporting investment decisions, developing commercial opportunities, and managing key partner and market relationships.

Shu holds a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Houston.

“I am excited to join the Bangladesh team, and I look forward to building on our 30-year partnership with the Government of Bangladesh and Petrobangla,” Shu said following her appointment.

Chevron Bangladesh, comprising Chevron Bangladesh Block Twelve, Ltd and Chevron Bangladesh Blocks Thirteen & Fourteen, Ltd, is the country’s largest producer of natural gas, accounting for about 60 percent of domestic gas production and more than 83 percent of domestic condensate output.

The company operates three gas fields in northeastern Bangladesh.
