Women entrepreneurs’ federation gets new committee

Khadija Afzal, a business entrepreneur in Bangladesh, has been elected as the president of the Bangladesh Federation of Women Entrepreneurs (BFWE) for a two-year term from 2026 to 2028.

The election was held on July 31 in Dhaka. BFWE organised the executive committee handover ceremony at the Pan Asia Hall of Gulshan Club in Dhaka yesterday, according to a press release.

The ceremony marked the transfer of responsibilities from the outgoing executive committee to the newly elected committee following the BFWE election.

Rokia Afzal Rahman, an entrepreneur and visionary leader in Bangladesh, who served as an adviser to the caretaker government in 2001, was the founder of BFWE.

Nazneen Kamal and Sadequa Hasan Sejuti were elected senior vice-president and vice-president, respectively, while Sanjida Sultana and Faiza Ahmed were elected general secretary and joint secretary, respectively, of the new executive committee.

Shamima Khan and Sharmin Jahan Oronno were elected treasurer and joint treasurer, respectively. Nilufar Karim, Rubina Husain, Rebeka Abedin, Farhana A Ahsan, Khurshida Ahmed Poly and Mahjabeen Hashim were elected as directors of the new committee.

Parveen Mahmud, chairperson of Micro Industries Development Assistance and Services (MIDAS); Yasmeen Ahmed, president of the Women Entrepreneurs Association; Nadia Binte Amin, president of the Women Entrepreneurs Network for Development Association; and Nazma Masud Parul, president of Women Empowerment Organisation, will serve as advisers for the 2026-2028 term.
