DIIT lays foundation stone of permanent campus in Dhaka
Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT) laid the foundation stone of its permanent campus at Green Model Town in Manda, Dhaka, on Friday, marking a new phase in the institute’s development.
Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah, vice chancellor of National University, attended the ceremony as chief guest and laid the foundation stone, according to a press release.
The event was presided over by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University and Daffodil Group.
Among others present were Professor Dr. Md. Al Amin, chairman of the governing body of DIIT; Dr. Md. Nuruzzaman, chief executive officer of Daffodil Group; Professor Dr. Md. Mostafa Kamal, adviser to DIIT; and Prof. Dr. Md. Sakhawat Hossain, principal of DIIT.
Speaking at the programme, Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah said the National University has prioritised skill-based and job-oriented education as part of efforts to address unemployment and meet global workforce demands.
He said the government has undertaken an initiative to produce 200,000 skilled graduates annually and has also launched a programme to train 50,000 women each year as technically skilled freelancers.
Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah said the United Arab Emirates requires around 25,000 skilled graduates in hospitality management annually and noted that institutions affiliated with the National University could play a role in meeting that demand.
He added that institutions such as Daffodil Institute of IT have contributed to producing skilled graduates and would continue to receive support from the National University.
In his presidential address, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said the expansion of higher education through the National University has helped extend educational opportunities across the country.
He said students must develop skills to compete effectively in both local and international job markets.
According to the institute, the permanent campus will feature modern facilities to support teaching, learning, research and student development.
The institute said the project reflects its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and industry-oriented education.
