United Medical College Hospital observes Global Fatty Liver Day
United Medical College Hospital organised a public awareness campaign on Global Fatty Liver Day, using art as a medium to promote awareness about liver health and fatty liver disease.
The programme was held at the hospital's premises on 100 Feet Madani Avenue in Dhaka, says a press release.
As part of the initiative, six artists from different parts of the country created artworks inspired by fatty liver disease and its impact on public health. The live art session began in the morning and continued throughout the day, with the completed works exhibited in the evening.
According to the organisers, the campaign was designed to increase awareness of fatty liver disease, one of the most common health conditions worldwide, and to highlight its causes, complications and prevention.
The programme also featured a continuing medical education (CME) session, educational activities, basic health screenings and other public awareness initiatives focused on liver health and preventive care.
Speaking at the event, Ariful Hoque, AGM (Business Development) of United Medical College Hospital, said, “Through this initiative, we aimed to create a meaningful connection between art and healthcare. While doctors work to heal and improve lives, artists have the unique ability to capture attention, evoke emotions, and communicate important messages to society. By bringing these two disciplines together, we hope to raise awareness about fatty liver disease in a way that is both engaging and memorable.”
The event was inaugurated by Mohammad Faizur Rahman, CEO of United Healthcare; Abu Raihan Al Beruni, CFBO of United Healthcare; and Azharul Islam Khan, director of Medical Services, along with physicians from relevant departments.
