Bullet-hit teacher dies

A schoolteacher in Jaldhaka upazila of the district, who was shot by criminals on August 9, succumbed to his injuries at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Sunday.

The victim is Madhob Chandra Roy, 48, teacher of Golmunda High School, and a resident of Jaldhaka municipality.

Madhob was going to the school from his residence by a battery-run three-wheeler on August 9.

A gang of four posing as passengers boarded the vehicle on the way and fired two gunshots at Madhob, leaving him critically injured.

He was admitted to the hospital where he died on Sunday night.

On August 14, the victim's younger brother Raton Chandra Roy filed a case with Jaldhaka Police Station in this connection.

Police are raiding different areas to arrest the culprits, said Officer-in-Charge Dilwar Hasan Inam.
