Stalker jailed

A mobile court sentenced an easy-bike (three-wheeler) driver to one-year's imprisonment for teasing a university girl in Palbari area of Jessore town yesterday. The convict Abdul Awal, 33, is son of Golam Mohammad of the town. Police quoted the victim as saying that Awal teased the girl, also a student of Visva-Bharati University at Santiniketan in West Bengal of India, while she was waiting in Palbari area for hiring an auto-rickshaw around 8:30pm. As she sought help from locals, they caught Awal and handed him over to the police, Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Gani Mia of Kotwali Police Station said. Police later produced Awal before the mobile court led by Additional District Magistrate Sohel Hasan. The court sentenced him to one year's imprisonment.
