‘Ghumpori’ bags Best Film in Popular category
Chorki’s original feature “Ghumpori” won the Popular Choice award for Best Film at the "Blender's Choice-The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards 2025" on Friday evening (October 9).
The annual ceremony, held at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC), recognises top achievements across domestic streaming media and digital content.
Directed and written by Jahid Preetom, the 1-hour-53-minute film moves away from conventional romantic tropes, presenting a narrative focused on longing, memory, and silent commitment. The film also explores the intricate layers of love, attachment, and patience, inviting viewers to dive deep into their own emotional experiences.
Inspired by Humayun Ahmed’s novel “Opekkha”, the plot centers on Megh (Pritom Hasan), a former private tutor who stays by the bedside of his comatose partner, Jyoti (Tanjin Tisha). His routine is interrupted when Usha (Parsha Mahjabeen Purnee)—a former student who secretly cared for him years ago—returns to his life as an intern doctor.
Told across three perspectives, “Ghumpori” relies on visual contrast to drive its story. Backed by a subtle background score and restrained performances from the lead cast, the film explores how lives persist through hope and waiting.
