Vicky Zahed wins Best Director (Series) for ‘AKA’
Acclaimed director Vicky Zahed won the Best Director Award (Popular) in series for his work on “AKA” at Blender’s Choice–The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards 2025.
The award recognises his direction of “AKA”, a psychological-social thriller that explores the human mind, trauma and the blurred line between reality and imagination.
Vicky Zahed began his career as a director with short films before making a name for himself on television. He is known for redefining the thriller, supernatural and suspense genres on screen. His acclaimed productions, including “Chirokal Aaj”, “Chokro”, “Punorjonmo”, “Ditiyo Shuchona”, “Prio Adnan” and “Kaykobad”, were well received by viewers.
The human psyche has remained a central interest in Zahed’s work. His stories often explore complex characters and unexpected twists.
The story of “AKA” follows Azad, a deeply scarred man haunted by a tragic incident from his childhood. After witnessing a brutal incident within his family as a child, Azad struggles to connect with society and leads a lonely life.
Written and directed by Vicky Zahed, “AKA” premiered on Hoichoi on September 4, 2025. The series consists of seven episodes and stars Afran Nisho and Masuma Rahman Nabila in the lead roles.
With its focus on trauma, identity and the darker sides of the human mind, “AKA” further showcases Zahed’s distinctive approach to psychological and suspense-driven storytelling.
