Raihan Rafi wins Best Director (Film) for ‘Amalnama’

Popular filmmaker Raihan Rafi won the Best Director Award (Popular) in the Film category at the Blender’s Choice–The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards 2025. He received the award for his web-film “Amalnama”.

Raihan Rafi began his film journey with “Poramon 2” and has since delivered a string of commercially successful and widely discussed projects. His acclaimed projects include “Pressure Cooker”, “Omimangshito”, “Noor”, “Taandob”, “Amalnama”, “Toofan”, “Surongo”, and “Damal”, among others.
“Amalnama” follows Hasan, a former drug dealer who has left behind his dark past to lead a peaceful life with his wife and two daughters. One night, a group posing as law enforcement officers takes him away from his home, leaving his family in fear and uncertainty.



Directed by Raihan Rafi, the story follows Hasan’s wife, Parveen, as she desperately searches for her husband and faces indifferent authorities and a powerful man named Aziz.

The film explores power, systemic exploitation, midnight disappearances and extrajudicial actions, including crossfire and gunfights. The title “Amalnama”, which refers to a record of one’s deeds, reflects the film’s central themes.

Kamruzzaman Kamu plays Hasan, while Tama Mirza portrays his wife, Parveen. Zahid Hasan plays police officer Imran, and Gazi Rakayet appears as Aziz. The cast also includes Sarika Sabrin, Gitashree Chowdhury, Hashnat Ripon, AK Azad Shetu and Inaya Arya.

The screenplay of “Amalnama” was written by Raihan Rafi and SM Nazrul Islam, based on a story by Raihan Rafi.
