Remembering Farooque through his timeless songs with Bobita and Kabori
Today marks the birth anniversary of legendary actor Farooque. He was born on this day in 1948. He made his big-screen debut with “Jolchhobi”, directed by H Akbar. In 1975, he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 2016, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The acclaimed actor passed away on May 15, 2023.
Among Farooque’s notable films are “Sareng Bou”, “Lathial”, “Sujon Sokhi”, “Nayanmoni”, “Miya Bhai”, “Golapi Ekhon Traine”, “Saheb”, “Abar Tora Manush Ho”, “Alor Michil”, “Din Jay Kotha Thake”, “Sokhi Tumi Kar”, “Kotha Dilam” and “Surjo Grohon”, among others.

One of the most popular on-screen pairs in Bangla cinema, Babita and Farooque appeared together in around 40 films.
