BFI London Film Festival director Kristy Matheson said, “We are proud to welcome both established and emerging filmmakers to the same platform at the 70th edition of the festival. This year’s competition features a remarkable range of diverse filmmaking styles and a fascinating collection of stories.”
Rubaiyat Hossain has described “The Difficult Bride” as a psychological horror film. The story is set around Dhaka’s traditional Mayfair Beauty Parlour.
"The Difficult Bride" follows Zaineen, a young bride-to-be who arrives to prepare for her wedding. As the day unfolds, she becomes entangled in an increasingly unsettling world where beauty, the body, faith, memory and fear collide.
The film stars newcomer Zaineen Chowdhury Karim in the lead role, alongside Reekita Nondine Shimu and Sunerah Kamal in supporting roles. Azmeri Haque Badhan and Dameer Khan make guest appearances, while veteran actors Shatabdi Wadud, Saberi Alam and Mohammed Bari also feature in key roles.
