As Durga Puja approaches, Dhallywood is preparing to welcome audiences with three films that explore different worlds, from family relationships and the struggle for power to youthful memories of campus life. “Sneher Bondhon”, “Cutpiece” and “Chirkut”, each bringing a distinct story to the screen. With the festive season offering an opportunity to draw moviegoers back to theatres, here’s a look at what these three films have in store.

‘Sneher Bondhon’

Directed by Kamruzzaman, “Sneher Bondhon” stars Joy Chowdhury and Mou Khan in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on October 16.

Confirming the release, Joy Chowdhury, who is also the general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association, said the team had decided to release the film during Durga Puja.

“No matter how big a film is, nobody can predict how it will perform commercially or how audiences will receive it. Releasing a film outside Eid has become a bold decision these days. In that regard, my producer has shown courage,” he said.

‘Cut-Piece’

Directed and produced by Iffat Jahan Momo, “Cut-Piece” explores the world of money, power, dominance and conflict surrounding the garment industry’s fabric waste business.

Alongside these themes, the film also examines family emotions and relationships.

An item song from the film has already been released.

The cast includes Shifat Amin Shuvo, Rafah Nanjeba Torsa, Imran Ahmed Saudagar, Bappi Ashraf, Saiful Kabir and Elina Shammi.

‘Chirkut’

Directed by Muntasir Akib, “Chirkut” takes audiences back to the Rajshahi University campus of the 1990s, exploring youthful enthusiasm, friendship, nostalgia, romance and different aspects of life.

The film features Shamol Mawla, Azizun Mim, Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, Sumon Patwary, Abdullah Al Sentu, Sanjib Ahmed, Shawon Ashraf, Iqbal, Ajmal Mithu, Siam Nasir, Shimul, Sadi Khan, Shamim Ahsan, Sheikh Chandni, Mahira Hasan and Ibrahim Sujon in significant roles.

“Chirkut” is scheduled for release on October 16, coinciding with Durga Puja. However, the film will be screened exclusively at cineplexes and multiplexes.

With distinct narratives and filmmaking approaches, “Sneher Bondhon”, “Cutpiece” and “Chirkut” are preparing to enter theatres during the festive season. It remains to be seen how audiences respond to the three films over the Puja holidays.
