Tom Cruise takes on striking new look in ‘Digger’
Tom Cruise is set to appear in a dramatically different avatar in Alejandro G Iñárritu’s upcoming film “Digger”, which is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on October 2 under the Warner Bros banner.
The film will also be released in Bangladesh on the same day as its international release.
Cruise, known for his leading roles, high-risk stunts and the iconic Ethan Hunt character in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, has maintained a distinctive action-star image throughout his more than four-decade career. However, “Digger” sees him stepping away from that familiar persona.
In the film, Cruise appears with grey-white hair, a prominent belly, a heavily lined face and a markedly different physicality. His transformation has already drawn attention following the release of the film’s trailer.
The change, however, goes beyond makeup and prosthetics. Cruise has said he worked closely with Iñárritu on various aspects of the character, including the costume, makeup, appearance of his teeth, manner of walking and even the rhythm of the music associated with the role.
According to Cruise, a character is not created through dialogue alone. Every visible element of a character can contribute to telling the story.
The actor also believes that his more than four decades of experience in the film industry helped him approach the role and move beyond the image audiences have long associated with him.
With the film’s release just around the corner, Cruise’s unusual transformation has become one of the major talking points surrounding “Digger”.
