Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) welcomed Ananta Jalil and Barsha Jalil yesterday. The event was organised as part of the ongoing promotions for Ananta Jalil’s upcoming movie “Din: The Day”. The programme was opened with a small cultural dance performance by Catherina Stuti, a student of the English Department and a member of Notre Dame’s Cultural Club. "With much appreciation, we welcome Ananta Jalil and his wife Barsha Jalil among us today," said Sourav Palma, Lecturer of the English Department and co-moderator of Cultural Club, NDUB.

An Italian judge on Monday ruled that Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Paul Haggis should be released from house arrest while authorities continue to investigate allegations that he raped a woman, his lawyer told Reuters.

Filmmakers from 33 organisations across the country held a rally at the capital's Shahbagh to protest the inconsistencies in the national film grant process. The event was organised on Monday after the list of films that received government grants between 2021 and 2022 was announced. Filmmakers and producers such as Nasir Uddin Yousuff, Anjan Zahidur Rahim, Manzare Hasin, N Rashed Chowdhury, Faridur Rahman, Humaira Bilkis and Shiyan Shahriar were present at the protest amongst many others. The protest was organised by filmmaker Aparajita Sangita. Speakers at the event criticised the priority given to commercial films in the National Film Grants. They also asked for independent cinema to be prioritised for government grants, while commercial movies should be moved to a separate category.

Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty is currently under fire for calling SS Rajamouli's "RRR" a ‘gay love story’. Pookutty had also mentioned that Alia Bhatt was simply a 'prop' in the film.

Veteran director Padma Shri Tarun Majumdar, known for making popular films based on finely-woven tales of human relationships in the lives of rural and urban middle-class families, passed away in a hospital in South Kolkata yesterday.

“Galliyan Returns” is a rebooted version of “Galliyan”, which was in the original “Ek Villain” movie. The video for the new song features John Abraham, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor and Tara Sutaria. This is the first song for the upcoming sequel “Ek Villain Returns”, and was released by T-Series on Monday.
