‘DC League of Super-Pets’ to release in July

"DC League of Super-Pets" is a new family-friendly superhero movie, inspired by the DC comics title "Legion of Super-Pets" and the "Super-Pets" animated series. Though the film will showcase some similar characters, it seems that it won't be a direct adaptation of either property. Moreover, it will be an entirely new approach to the animal-based superheroes.

In the new trailer for the film, the Justice League is kidnapped by a tiny guinea pig, Lulu (Kate McKinnon). Now, it is up to Krypto the Super-Dog to save his owner, Superman (John Krasinski) and the rest of the heroes: Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Jessica Cruz's Green Lantern.  But he can't do that alone, so he teams up with a gang of shelter pets who had obtained superpowers during a freak accident. Now, it is up to them to save the Justice League. But while doing that they also must learn to control their newly received superpowers.

Based on the film's promotional footage, a notable omission from the new poster is Cyborg. However, it's possible that there are other members like Shazam and Aquaman that are included in the movie who are not in the image. Still, this could hint that the five heroes that are present in the poster could be the key focus of the film.

Among the group, there is a hound named Ace (Kevin Hart), a pig named PB (Vanessa Bayer), a turtle named Merton (Natasha Lyonne) and a squirrel named Chip (Diego Luna). In addition, Keanu Reeves voices Bruce Wayne/Batman and Marc Maron voices Superman's archnemesis, Lex Luthor.

Through the trailer, the unconditional love and loyalty of a dog towards its owner is shown wonderfully. Moreover, the importance of teamwork, friendship and leadership can also be seen through the trailer. The DC fans are excited and are looking forward to this amazing superhero- comedy movie.

"DC League of Super-Pets" is directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine.

The movie will come to theatres on July 29, 2022.
