Fans outraged as Ranbir jokes about Alia’s weight

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt announced their pregnancy in June, via an Instagram post. As the couple gear up for the release of their first film together, "Brahmastra", they took to YouTube to promote the movie on Thursday.

In the live video, Ranbir and Alia were joined by the film's director, Ayan Mukerji. In a short clip from the live session, Ranbir and Alia were discussing how they were going about promoting "Brahmastra", when Ranbir decided to make a joke about Alia's pregnant belly.

The clip shows Alia saying, "If you are asking why we are not phailoed (spreading) everywhere… right now our focus is…", when she was interrupted by Ranbir Kapoor. The actor gave a look at Alia's pregnant belly and said, "Well, I can see somebody has phailoed." After Alia seemed shocked by the comment, Ranbir patted her on the back and said, "Joke."

Many fans have now reacted negatively to the clip, saying that things like: "This was sad to watch", "That wasn't funny at all", "what a disgusting joke", and "Alia deserves better." Another particular fan highlighted the issue, commenting, "That was a disgusting joke to say to a pregnant woman."
