In a recent interview, the actor shared the news with Indian media outlets. About a year back, Harish discovered a small inflammation in his throat. This inflammation eventually grew, and took the form of cancer.
"My children are very young, and they are scared for me to have a neck surgery. So, I wanted to finish filming 'KGF' first. Once I got a bit of fame, I was ready to take the risk of the surgery, but by then, the cancer had spread to my lungs. There is water in my lungs now," said Harish Rai.
It was known during the shooting of "KGF", that Harish often suffered from shortness of breath. The actor got tested during that time, and realised that he needed to take treatment quickly. However, he did not have the money to get at a private hospital.
Later, through the advice of a friend, Harish began treatment at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bangalore. However, his condition was not improving, and the doctor informed him that he was in the fourth stage of cancer.
It was reported that Harish spends Rs 3 lakh every month on medicine and treatment. He told the media that a famous actor has extended a helping hand to him. Not only that, many other actors and producers of Kannada cinema have come forward and promised to help him.
