Priyanka Chopra expresses joy after NYC announces Diwali as public holiday
Bollywood's diva Priyanka Chopra recently went to the New York City, where she has been seen enjoying quality time with her and Nick Jonas' daughter Malti Marie. The actress is quite active on social media, and often seen expressing her thoughts through different posts.
She took to Instagram and shared a video on her Instagram stories of Mayor Eric Adams and New York Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar. The actress got emotional when Diwali was announced a public holiday in New York City from 2023. She also shared that upon hearing the news she was 'crying tears of joy'.
The "Krrish" actress added a caption on sharing the video, which reads— "After all these years! My teenage self-living in Queens is crying tears of joy. #representationmatters."
In the video, Jenifer Rajkumar was heard saying, "Today I'm proud to say our time has come, the time has come to recognize over 200,000 New Yorkers of the Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh and Jain faiths who celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights."
Adams also shared, "We are going to encourage children to learn about what is Diwali. We're going to have them start talking about what it is to celebrate the Festival of Lights, and how do you turn a light on within yourself."
Priyanka and Nick Jonas greeted their daughter through surrogacy this year. The couple shares lovely glimpses of Malti Marie, on a regular basis.
Priyanka will be seen in Farhan Akhtar's "Jee Le Zaraa" with Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. Shooting for the project is yet to begin. On the other hand, "It's all coming back to me" and "Citadel" are the projects she has on her list.
