Producer-director Azizur Rahman Buli no more

Renowned producer-director of the golden age of Bangladeshi cinema, Azizur Rahman Buli has passed away. He was 76 years old, and was admitted to a hospital after feeling ill. He breathed his last at 3:20 am in the morning, in the capital's Red Care Hospital. The news was confirmed by eminent director, Sohanur Rahman Sohan.

Buli arrived in the Bangladeshi film industry in 1970 with the film "Nacher Putul". He made his acting debut in the 1980 film "Shesh Uttar", and was last seen in the movie "Bandhu Jeno Shatru".

His movies starred the likes of Sohel Rana, Elias Kanchan, Shabnam, Nutan, Babita, Olivia, Anjana and Rozina, among many other top stars of the time.

He shot the first Dhallywood film in the United States of America. Some of his notable films are "Julie", "Amar Sansar", "Samsya", "Himmatwali", "Nawabjadi", "Matimahal", "Love in Nepal", "Shaadi Mubarak" and "Kalu Gunda", just to name a few.

Azizur Rahman Buli was also formerly the president of Bangladesh Film Directors Association. He was born in Old Dhaka on May 1, 1946.
