Why is everyone talking about the French football team’s bags?

The French national football team may routinely make headlines for their striking performances at the World Cup, but that is not the only thing which has everybody talking about them this year. From high-end tracksuits and jackets to their luxurious selection of bags, the “Les Bleus” have arrived in style to catch all of fashion media’s attention.

While their outfits have always spoken for themselves, the surprisingly bigger part of the hype is directed towards their bags. The swapping of regular sports gear for their standout bags, treating such extraordinary luxury bags as gym wear, has become an online sensation among French football fans and others alike.

Marcus Thuram’s exotic, limited edition, bright-green Chanel flap bag was one of the first to drive the Internet crazy and deservedly so, but was followed closely by not one, but multiple Hermès and Louis Vuitton bags donned by the rest of the team.

Most of them seem to be fans of the Hermès Haut à Courroies line, sister to the famous Hermès Birkin bags, but Louis Vuitton follows closely behind, having also made multiple appearances in the team’s bag lineup.

From the unapologetically large Chanel bags to Louis Vuitton’s Bandoulière bags, some of the most sought-after duffle bags in fashion history were seen with the players as they arrived in Boston.

The lineup sounds purely French, and why wouldn't it be, but the cameras also spotted an Andiamo bag, one of Italian brand Bottega’s finest pieces, adding a striking contrast to the big Parisian names.

While many of the photographed pieces were absolute showstoppers, some players, especially the all-time French superstar and Dior’s global brand ambassador, Kylian Mbappé, opted for more minimalist choices.

Not only their strikers, like Marcus Thuram, Ousmane Dembélé and Kylian Mbappé, but also their midfielders Adrien Rabiot and Rayan Cherki and defenders like Maxence Lacroix, were all equally impressive in their “stadium-runway” fashion moment. It was truly a team effort, a subtle proof of how “in sync” they are both on and off the pitch.

These football stars have taken over the internet to such an extent that not only the public, but also renowned fashion magazines, have been keeping up with their fashion throughout this World Cup season. They may win the World Cup again, but they have already won the title of best dressed.
