ACC moves to bring back ex-IGP Benazir from Dubai
The ACC has prepared the necessary documents to initiate the return of former IGP Benazir Ahmed, who was arrested by Dubai Police in the United Arab Emirates.
A formal request letter was finalised yesterday and sent to the home ministry, said ACC Deputy Director Md Hafizul Islam.
An investigation source said the letter contains evidence and information from various cases against Benazir, including corruption, illegal acquisition of wealth, money laundering, and passport forgery. The home ministry will forward the letter to the foreign ministry, which will then send it to the UAE government through diplomatic channels.
According to ACC sources, two representatives from the National Central Bureau Dhaka visited the ACC headquarters yesterday to advance the legal and diplomatic process of bringing Benazir back.
They held discussions with ACC officials regarding ongoing cases, arrest warrants, court orders, and other necessary documents.
ACC officials confirmed that information and evidence related to corruption and illicit wealth cases, along with court orders and other required documents, have been handed over to the NCB.
