Class 8 student missing in Gazipur, bloodstained clothes found

Tafsirul Islam Ananta disappeared after leaving school during recess; police recovered his clothes, shoes and ID card

A class eight student of Bir Ujli Model Academy in Kapasia, Gazipur has gone missing.

Police recovered Tafsirul Islam Ananta's (13) bloodstained clothes, shoes and school ID card from the third floor of a building at Bir Ujli Bazar around 4:00pm today, said Rafiqul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) at the Tok Nayan Bazar Police Investigation Centre.

Earlier, around 1:40pm, Ananta went to a nearby market during recess and has not been seen since.

SI Rafiqul confirmed that Ananta, son of Sohag Rana of Dumdia village, is a student of Bir Ujli Model Academy. “After he went missing, police recovered his bloodstained clothes, shoes and school ID card,” he said.

Asaduzzaman, founder and director of the academy, told The Daily Star, “Ananta is a Class 8 student and his roll number is 3. He is a meritorious student. He left the school during the tiffin break and did not return. Later, we learned that his bloodstained clothes had been found.”

“Ananta last told his classmates, ‘You go ahead, I am coming.’ Since then, there has been no trace of him,” he added.

Ananta’s father, Sohag, said he has filed a general diary with Kapasia Police Station.
