4 sentenced to death for murder of Moulvibazar college student

A court in Moulvibazar today sentenced four people to death for the murder of a college student, Rezaul Karim Naim.

The condemned convicts are Nurul Islam, Md Saimon Islam, Nahidul Islam Roni and Anwar Hossain.

Moulvibazar District and Sessions Judge Md Rabiul Awal delivered the verdict, acquitting five accused as the allegations against them were not proven.

According to the case statement, Naim, a student of Moulvibazar Government College and a resident of Barshijora village in Sadar upazila, was hacked to death at his home in front of his family members in November 2023 following an altercation over a fake Facebook profile.

Following the incident, Naim's father, Cherag Miah, filed a murder case with Moulvibazar Model Police Station, naming 10 people as accused.

Expressing satisfaction with the verdict, Cherag Miah said, "They killed my son in front of the entire family. We have received justice. No one will dare to commit such an act in the future. I am satisfied with this verdict."

Public Prosecutor Md Abdul Matin Chowdhury said, "We are satisfied with the verdict."
