EC imposes vehicle restrictions ahead of Thakurgaon-1 by-poll

The Election Commission (EC) has imposed restrictions on vehicle movement in Thakurgaon ahead of the Thakurgaon-1 by-election scheduled for October 29, including a 72-hour ban on motorcycles.

According to EC directives, the movement of taxicabs, pickups, microbuses and trucks will be prohibited from 12:00am on October 28 to 12:00am on October 29.

The motorcycle ban will remain in effect from 12:00am on October 27 to 12:00am on October 30, according to the directives signed by EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Manir Hossain.

The EC said exemptions would apply in certain cases involving emergency services and special needs.
