SPIYCE: Simulation Project for Integrating Youth through Community Engagement
SPIYCE is an EMK small grantee 2019 Empowerment through Law of the Common People (ELCOP) project which aims to train undergraduate students in effective community engagement. SPIYCE is inspired by the model of simulation led by the International Human Rights Clinic (IHRC) of the Harvard Law School. ‘Poetry for Peace’ held at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro
An event titled, ‘Poetry for Peace” was organised jointly by World Poetry Festival and Kathak, a Bangladeshi Poetry Initiative, recently. It was held at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro. The general theme of the event was presenting a united stand against the recurring acts of violence across the globe. Book exhibition and reading competition on Bangabandhu concludes
The National Book Centre arranged a book exhibition and reading competition at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, in observance of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s death anniversary. It was powered by Cultural Ministry of Bangladesh and supported by Academic and Creative Publishers Association of Bangladesh and BAPUS. This is their first event, which concluded on August 29.

Team Positive Bangladesh organised Dhaka Youth Fest 2019, powered by EMK Centre, recently, to observe International Youth Day (August 12). The event was planned keeping the aspect of transforming education in mind. It was similar to the ‘Ways to Engage’ school workshops and ‘Inspire to Engage’ interactive sessions previously arranged by Positive Bangladesh. Team Bangladesh at International Economics Olympiad 2019
International Economics Olympiad (IEO) is an annual competition in economics organised for high school students with an aim to promote logical thinking and the creative application of general knowledge in solving problems. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees for IEO is Noble prize winner, Eric Maskin who is also a professor at Harvard University. This year, the second edition of the competition was hosted by Higher School of Economics (Russia) in partnership with Sberbank in St Petersburg, Russia. The competition comprised of three different rounds: Financial Literacy, Economics and Business Case.

Bangladesh wins Gold Medals in 2019 Australia Open Taekwondo Championship
Ujjal Kumar Deb, Abdulla Al Noman and Imtiaz Ibney Ali won Gold Medals in 2019 Australia Open Taekwondo Championship. They won in the Male under 30 team in the Poomsae category. The event took place in June, with 1,000 players from 32 countries across the globe. The Bangladeshi team was sponsored by Orion Group.

Winners at Kick for Six 2019
2019’s installment of Kick for six was a grand event, with an objective to raise funds for project Trishna, which aims to provide safe drinking water for everyone. The name, Kick for six, came from SDG 6- Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. This year the tournament was held in August, at Fortis sports ground. The event was graced by chief guests Adil Hossain Nobel, and Peya Jannatul.
