Online 3D exhibition ‘Virtual vs Real’ to open on May 10
The country’s first virtual art space, Chitrakala Gallery, is going to organise a group art exhibition, featuring works by several Bangladeshi contemporary artists. Eminent artist-sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan will inaugurate the online-based 3D exhibition titled, Virtual vs Real at 10:30 pm on May 10, through a live show on Facebook, YouTube and the gallery’s website, simultaneously.

Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2020 held virtually
Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the 33rd Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, officially titled, ‘Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2020: Celebrate Together,’ was held virtually recently, with Victoria Justice as the host. It aired live on Nickelodeon with several other ViacomCBS cable networks, and tape delayed across all of Nickelodeon's international networks. It was the first time the ceremony was held virtually, and it was the smallest-scale ceremony since 1987.

A tribute to Satyajit Ray on his 99th birth anniversary

After years of financial and other struggles, he finally finished his first film in a trilogy, Pather Panchali (1955), one of the most iconic tales in Bengali cinema. Looking back at Rishi Kapoor’s legacy
Eminent Indian film star Rishi Kapoor breathed his last at 67, after a two-year battle with leukemia. He was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai a few days ago after complaining about breathing difficulties, and ultimately passed away on April 30. His last rites took place at Chandanwadi Crematorium in Kalbadevi, Mumbai.

“It is the right time to practice minimalism” – Wakilur Rahman
Award-winning painter, printmaker and sculptor Wakilur Rahman has been addressing social issues through his artworks since the early eighties. He is one of the founding members of the art group, ‘Shomoy’, which initiated a discourse on contemporary art in Bangladesh. He also runs the non-profit art gallery, Kala Kendra. Rahman spent a significant amount of time in East Germany, where he experienced the initial years of German unification. Although he is self-isolating at the moment, he has taken to social media to showcase his different projects, created with home objects.
