The maiden Bangladesh International Theatre Festival 2019, organised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in association with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), International Theatre Institute (Bangladesh Centre) and Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, is underway at BSA.

Marking the Fête de la Musique or World Music Day, which has its roots in France, Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samonnoy Parishad, in association with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, celebrated the international occasion on June 21, at the National Art Gallery Auditorium in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).

Marie-Annick Bourdin welcomed all and invited the members of the choir to perform on the day. The music conductor and flautist, Dr Selvam Thorez, also the Director, Alliance Française de Chittagong (AFC), and Dr Dave Dowland, Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, Asian University for Women, spoke prior to the performance.

The biennial elections for Bangladesh’s television actors’ association – Obhinoy Shilpi Shongho – was held amongst much glitz and glamour on June 21 at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises where renowned actor Shahiduzzaman Selim was elected as the president in a landslide victory against opposition leader, actor Tushar Khan.
