Citizens Bank organises shariah supervisory committee meeting
Citizens Bank PLC’s shariah supervisory committee (SSC) recently held its first meeting at the bank’s head office in Dhaka.
Prof Mohammad Abdus Samad, chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Committee, chaired the meeting, according to a press release.
Alamgir Hossain, managing director of the bank, attended the meeting.
Mufti Muhammad Abu Yusuf and Mufti Muinul Islam, members of the committee, were also present.
The committee reviewed and approved all guidelines, policies and PPGs prepared for Islamic banking operations, including those related to shariah compliance, service quality enhancement, investment management, and operational procedures for shariah-compliant products and services.
The committee members expressed satisfaction with the overall preparedness and strategic initiatives undertaken by Citizens Bank PLC for the launch of its Islamic banking services.
Citizens Bank Islamic Banking would make a meaningful contribution to the growth and development of the Islamic banking industry in Bangladesh and emerge as a trusted provider of shariah-compliant banking services.
Md Mostafizur Rahman and Md Abdul Latif, deputy managing directors of the bank, Md Rafiqul Islam Shikder, head of the Islamic Banking Division, along with other officials of the division, were also present.
