Delta Award for Architecture launched to promote design excellence
The Delta Award for Architecture, a platform that recognises innovative, sustainable, contextual and socially responsive design, was launched alongside the Delta Festival of Architecture 2026 at the Sheraton Dhaka in Banani on Thursday.
Online submissions for the awards will remain open from July 16 to August 16, and participation is free in all categories. Eligible projects from across Bangladesh can be submitted through the award’s official website.
The initiative, jointly organised by ARCHICONNECT and CEMS-Global, aims to promote architectural excellence, sustainable design and construction innovation in Bangladesh’s built environment, according to a press release.
Meherun N Islam, president and group managing director of CEMS-Global USA & Asia-Pacific, launched the awards as the chief guest.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, is the strategic partner.
The awards will recognise outstanding architectural projects, professional leadership, emerging talent and academic contributions through categories including the Delta Sustainability and Resilience Award, the Delta Contextual and Social Impact Award, the Delta Lifetime Achievement Award, the Delta Architect of the Year Award, the Delta Emerging Architect of the Year Award, and the Delta Architectural Scholar Award.
A jury panel will evaluate the submitted projects. For the Delta Sustainability and Resilience Award category, IFC will provide technical advisory support, drawing on its global expertise in green and resilient buildings.
Selected projects will be showcased at the Delta Festival of Architecture.
Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies, certificates, publication opportunities, and professional networking support.
The award ceremony will be held on November 12.
