Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) has launched its digital student file portal, named “MTB Smart Student Banking”, a first initiative in the market designed to digitalise and simplify the student file opening and payment process for Bangladeshi students pursuing higher education abroad.

Syed Mahbubur Rahman, managing director and CEO of the bank, inaugurated the initiative as the chief guest at the bank’s corporate head office in Dhaka last week, according to a press release.

With the launch of the new digital platform, students planning to study abroad will be able to initiate their student file applications remotely from their preferred locations.

Students can register through the portal, provide the required information, upload relevant documents and track the status of their applications digitally.

The initiative is expected to improve customer convenience, processing efficiency, turnaround time, document traceability and overall transparency while maintaining the required regulatory and internal control framework.

The launch represents another significant milestone in MTB’s digital transformation journey and reinforces the bank’s commitment to providing innovative, convenient and technology-driven banking solutions for the student community.

Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, additional managing director and chief business officer of the bank; Md Shafquat Hossain, deputy managing director and head of retail; Md Shamsul Islam, deputy managing director and head of treasury; and Md Bakhteyer Hossain, deputy managing director and head of chief operating officer, attended the launching ceremony.

Among others, AKM Tareq, deputy managing director and head of BBD at the bank; Khalid Hossin, chief digital officer; Tahsin Shahid, head of retail business and chief bancassurance officer; Md Arifur Rahman, head of student banking; and Sharif Ahmed, head of the core banking systems and project management department, were also present.
