Prime Bank PLC has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) to support prosthetic and orthotic (P&O) services for poor and marginalised persons with disabilities across Bangladesh.

Md Ziaur Rahman, additional managing director and chief risk officer of the bank, and Valerie A Taylor, founder of CRP Bangladesh, signed the MoU at the bank’s head office in Dhaka recently, according to a press release.

Under the partnership, Prime Bank will provide funding through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to support the provision of prosthetic and orthotic devices, rehabilitation services and other essential care for persons with disabilities from disadvantaged communities.

The support will also cover multidisciplinary rehabilitation services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and mental health care.

The initiative will be implemented over one year, with CRP responsible for delivering the services in accordance with established professional and medical standards.

Prime Bank will monitor the programme through structured reporting, periodic reviews and impact assessments to ensure that the support reaches the intended beneficiaries and contributes to meaningful improvements in their quality of life.

Speaking on the occasion, Md Ziaur Rahman, additional managing director and chief risk officer of the bank, said, “For us, this initiative is about more than financial support — it is about restoring dignity, independence and hope to individuals living with disabilities.”

“By directing our CSR resources to this cause, we reaffirm our belief that true progress must be measured not only by economic growth, but also by the empowerment of people and the creation of a more inclusive society,” he added.
