UCB gets two new DMDs

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has promoted Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman and Md Ridwanul Hoque to the post of deputy managing director (DMD).

Prior to their promotions, Shafiqur Rahman was serving as senior executive vice-president and head of the retail business division, while Ridwanul Hoque was serving as senior executive vice-president and head of the distribution and strategy division, according to a press release.

Shafiqur began his banking career with ANZ Grindlays Bank in May 1999. He joined Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh in 2001, where he served in various capacities.

In October 2022, he joined UCB as head of the retail business division. He also concurrently served as head of service quality and imperial banking. Shafiqur obtained his master’s degree in 1995.

Prior to joining UCB, Ridwanul Hoque served as head of the retail and SME business division at NCC Bank PLC. He previously worked at Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and Bank Alfalah.

Ridwanul Hoque obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Chittagong.
