Dhaka University’s 54th convocation set for January 26

Dhaka University will hold its 54th convocation on January 26 next year.

Professor Dr Atsushi Sunami, president of Japan’s Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF), will attend the ceremony as the convocation speaker.

Dr Atsushi will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree, while Professor Dr Muhammad Harunur Rashid, a donor to a trust fund at the university, will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree.

The decisions were taken at a Syndicate meeting following recommendations from the university’s Academic Council, according to a press release issued by DU Public Relations Office today.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will preside over the convocation, while Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has agreed to attend as the guest of honour, the release said.

Graduates and award recipients whose examination results were published between November 20, 2022, and November 30, 2026, will be eligible to attend the convocation.

Applications will be accepted from November 1 to November 30, 2026, according to the release.
