Ever since Mallika Sherawat acted on the film "Murder" back in 2004, she had become a victim to the tag of 'erotic actress' in the eyes of the media. In a recent interview with "Indianexpress.com" while promoting her film "RK/RKay" directed by Rajat Kapoor, the actress shared her thoughts about back in the day.

"A part of the whole 'sex symbol' tag had to do with a certain way that this pseudo intellectual media portrayed me," said the actress.

After "Murder", the actress also starred in "Pyaar Ke Side Effects", "Dasavatharam", and "The Myth", amongst many other films.

"This one section of the media ignored all that, and only spoke about the sex symbol bit," shared the actress. "That became my image, because media was continuously held up on that. But I made it a point to not to take these seriously and keep trying to do good work."

Mallika Sherawat's struggle as with the negative views of the media had made the actress feel 'harassed and bullied'. However, despite the obstacles, the actress has been steadfast on being her own self—an independent and self-sufficient woman.

"There was a time when I felt really bullied and harassed by a certain section of the media," she commented. "Because all they were focusing on was 'she has a glamorous body, she looks good in a bikini'."

"I read a lot, I do yoga, I am vegan, but nobody talked about that side of me. I don't party," the actress concluded.
