Abu Dhabi to host one-off Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan
Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium will host the one-off Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, while the venue, along with Sharjah Cricket Stadium, will stage the tri-series involving the two sides and Zimbabwe, as the venues for Bangladesh’s upcoming UAE tour were revealed on Wednesday.
According to the itinerary announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the first group of Bangladesh’s Test squad will depart for Dubai on October 1 and play a two-day practice match against the UAE on October 4-5.
The second group, currently in Japan for the Asian Games, will join the first group on October 6 before the team heads to Abu Dhabi on the same day.
The one-off Test will begin on October 9.
Following the Test, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will feature in a tri-series alongside Zimbabwe, with Bangladesh facing Zimbabwe in the opening match on October 17 in Abu Dhabi. The Tigers will then take on Afghanistan on October 21 in Sharjah.
The top two teams from the single-leg tournament will qualify for the final, scheduled for October 23 in Sharjah. All matches in the tri-series will be played under lights.
