Uncapped Disha, Habiba called up amid Bangladesh’s pace concerns for Australia tour

Bangladesh have named uncapped pacers Disha Biswas and Habiba Islam Pinky in their 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match WODI series against Australia, which gets underway on October 9.

Despite the double inclusion, questions linger over the team's pace-bowling depth. Marufa Akter remains the squad's only frontline seamer, though Ritu Moni brings experience as a seam-up option.

Alongside the uncapped duo, selectors have recalled left-arm spinner Sanjida Akter Meghla and batter Dilara Akter. Meanwhile, Murshida Khatun returns to the WODI setup for the first time since January of last year.

To make room for the changes, Juairiya Ferdous, Sumaiya Akter, and Fahima Khatun have been dropped. Left-arm pacer Fariha Trisna misses out entirely due to injury. All four players featured in Bangladesh's last ODI outing -- a 2-1 home series defeat against Sri Lanka in April.

The Tigresses will depart for Australia on October 3. Ahead of the series opener at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, they will play a warm-up match against Queensland on October 6. The second and third matches are scheduled for October 11 and 14, respectively.

This historic tour marks the first time Bangladesh will play a bilateral WODI series against Australia on Australian soil.
