NRBC Bank disburses Tk 35cr in agri loans to 500 farmers, entrepreneurs
NRBC Bank PLC has disbursed agricultural loans worth Tk 35 crore among 500 farmers and entrepreneurs to enhance their financial capacity and support rural economic development.
The loan disbursement programme, along with the distribution of nutritious food, was held recently at the office of the Socio-Economic Health Education Organisation (SHEO), a private development organisation in Jhenaidah.
Md Touhidul Alam Khan, managing director and CEO of the bank, attended the event as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Touhidul Alam said agriculture remains one of the key drivers of Bangladesh’s economy and that NRBC Bank continues to support the sector through agricultural financing, CMSME loans, financial inclusion initiatives, and various corporate social responsibility programmes. He reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of agriculture and rural communities across the country.
Md Samsul Alam, founder and executive director of SHEO, presided over the programme. The initiative was undertaken to strengthen the rural economy through agricultural development and the promotion of entrepreneurship.
In addition to the loan disbursement, nutritious food was distributed among the beneficiaries to raise awareness about nutrition and encourage healthy living.
Among others, Tanushree Mitra, senior executive vice-president and head of Credit Risk Management Division-1 of the bank; agriculturist Md Abdul Halim, head of the Khulna and Barishal zones; and Md Jamal Uddin, manager of Hatgopalpur Branch, were also present.
