‘Hangor Nodi Grenade’ actor Bijoy Chowdhury hospitalised in Dhaka
Actor Bijoy Chowdhury, known for playing Raees in the classic film “Hangor Nodi Grenade” (Shark, River, Grenade), has been hospitalised after suffering a heart attack.
He was admitted to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital in Dhaka on Thursday night, according to his family.
His daughter, Fiona Chowdhury, has asked everyone to pray for his recovery. In a social media post, she wrote that her father is currently very ill. He is admitted to the Institute of Cardiology and is undergoing treatment.
She further wrote, “Everyone please pray for my father. May Allah grant him a speedy recovery and protect him from all dangers and difficulties. I sincerely request everyone to pray for him.”
Bijoy had travelled to Singair in Manikganj with his wife, Salma Chowdhury, on Thursday to attend a family event. He developed chest pain while returning from the event and was taken to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital.
Doctors later confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack. He was initially kept in the ICU as his condition deteriorated. He was later moved to a general ward after his condition improved somewhat, his wife said.
Bijoy Chowdhury gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Raees in “Hangor Nodi Grenade” (Shark, River, Grenade). Based on novelist Selina Hossain’s novel, the film was directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam and released in 1997.
