Pritom-Shahtaj announce the end of their marriage

Musician and actor Pritom Hasan and model, actor and singer Shahtaj Monira Hashem are ending their marriage. The couple have decided to go their separate ways due to significant differences in their understanding of each other. They announced the decision in separate Facebook posts on Sunday night. Speaking to Prothom Alo, Shahtaj confirmed the separation.

In his post, Pritom wrote, “After a ten-year long journey together, we have decided to end our marital relationship due to differences in our mutual understanding.”

He also expressed gratitude for the time they spent together. “We are both grateful for the time, memories and experiences we shared. Our respect and good wishes for each other will always remain,” he wrote.

Pritom also explained why they had reached the decision. According to him, over time, they realised that, due to significant differences in their understanding of each other, it would be better for both of them to move forward separately.

The musician also made it clear that the decision was not made suddenly. After much thought and discussions between themselves, and with the support and consent of their families, they reached the decision. They are currently going through the process of divorce.

Shahtaj shared a similar statement on her Facebook page. She said that after nearly 10 years of being together, they had decided to end their marital relationship amicably and with mutual understanding. Alongside expressing gratitude for the time and memories they shared, she wrote that she would always have respect and good wishes for Pritom.

Shahtaj said that, over time, they had realised that, because of differences in their understanding of each other, it would be better for both of them to move forward separately. She also said the decision was made with the support and consent of their families.

During this period of change in their lives, both have requested respect for their privacy and personal space. They have also asked friends, colleagues and the media to approach the matter with respect and empathy.

Pritom and Shahtaj first became acquainted and grew close while working together. Shahtaj appeared as a model in the music video for Pritom’s popular song “Jadukor”. They met while working on the song in 2017, and their relationship later developed into a romantic one.

After being in a relationship for several years, Pritom and Shahtaj married on October 29, 2022, at a hotel in Sreemangal, in the presence of their family members and close friends.

Following their marriage, the couple shared moments from their life together on social media at various times. They were also seen together as recently as January this year, at the wedding ceremony of singer Xefar Rahman and content creator Rafsan Sabab.

However, people close to the couple say their relationship had not been going well for some time. There had also been discussions among those close to them about the possibility of their separation. Finally, on Sunday night, both publicly announced their decision to end their marriage.
