As the Eid-ul-Azha box office fills with star-driven spectacles and commercial entertainers, one of the season’s most intriguing releases is arriving from an entirely different space. After winning over audiences at two festivals — DIFF and Amar Bhashar Cholochitro — and earning multiple awards, “The University of Chankharpul”, directed by young filmmaker Akash Haque, has now joined the Eid release race.

Bengal Multimedia had initially announced the release of “Nakphuler Kabbo” during Eid-ul-Azha. However, no promotional activities were observed around the film, and the production house has now officially withdrawn it from the Eid release race.

Meghdol is all set to entertain audiences with its much-awaited concert, “Echoes of Eternity”, scheduled for May 30, the third day of Eid.

Television channels are bringing a wide range of celebrity shows, magazine programmes, and festive specials to audiences this Eid-ul-Azha, with line-ups featuring music, comedy, performances, celebrity conversations, and light-hearted debates.

With six films currently eyeing release this Eid-ul-Azha, director Masud Hasan Ujjal is stepping into the festive release race with quiet confidence and a deeply personal cinematic philosophy. His upcoming film, “Bonolota Sen”, arrives years after his acclaimed feature “Unoponchash Batash”.

This Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh’s music industry is gearing up with a wave of new releases spanning folk fusion, romantic ballads and contemporary pop tracks. Alongside major production houses, many artists are also releasing songs through their personal YouTube channels.

Acclaimed director Chayanika Chowdhury is set to present a new Eid special telefilm titled “Abar Hobe Dekha”, based on a foreign story and written by Faria Hossain.

The evening featured recollections, poetry recitations, music, dance performances, staged readings, and video screenings from some of Ataur Rahman’s most celebrated productions.

Since the rise of OTT platforms in Bangladesh, Eid seasons have typically brought an array of original web content. This year, however, the line-up appears noticeably thinner. Across local streaming platforms, original productions are limited, with only two new web films, one dubbed foreign microdrama, and several theatrical releases from Eid-ul-Fitr making their digital debut. Notably, no new web series have been announced for the season.

Since its release during Eid, director Abu Hayat Mahmud’s film “Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka” has remained at the centre of controversy.

Nazrul’s “Rebel Poet” identity is too constrained to limit him within a single frame. Nazrul’s poetry moves, shifts beyond even its historical significance. However, only a handful of the films have visible promotional campaigns so far. Whether all of them will ultimately make it to cinemas remains to be seen. Several teasers, songs and trailers have already been unveiled, building anticipation around the Eid line-up.

The artiste also thanked fans for their support and described the experience as “overwhelmingly emotional”, while expressing gratitude to his former bandmates for standing by him over the years.

According to the team, “Noakhailla Maiya” will be released on May 25 on Oyshee’s official YouTube channel.
