Noted actor and director Tauquir Ahmed, who has captivated audiences with numerous dramas and telefilms throughout his long career, is set to return this Eid. He has recently taken part in the shooting of a new special telefilm for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

Previously, they have collaborated in “Sincerely Yours, Dhaka”, and “Café Desire”. “Honestly speaking, Giasuddin Selim, Sumon Anwar and Robi are my most favourite directors I have worked with in my career. Each director has a different approach, and that’s what keeps things interesting. This story of ‘Suraiya’ is quite layered, but for now, I can’t reveal much about it just yet.”

Renowned singer Runa Laila has been honoured with the “Minar-E-Dilli” Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to music at the 15th Delhi International Film Festival, held in Delhi, India.

The exhibition “Dharon”, currently underway at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, reexamines folk art in Bangladesh, positioning it as a dynamic and evolving part of contemporary visual practice.

Organisers informed that the concert will feature a lively mix of musical performances, entertainment, and cultural showcases, creating a festive atmosphere for the community.

Registration for “Face of Tomorrow” is currently open and will continue until May 31.

Bangladeshi rock icon James is set to perform in Lisbon for the first time as part of the “Lisbon Bangla Live Concert 2026”, scheduled for July 26. The event is expected to be a major cultural gathering for the Bangladeshi diaspora in Portugal.

Directed by Mizanur Rahman Labu, the film is based on his own story, screenplay and dialogue. The central role of Atar Bibi is played by Farzana Sumi, who described it as one of the most demanding performances of her career.

The track features vocals by Dithi Anwar and Apu Aman. Dithi confirmed that the music video for the song has already been completed.

Young filmmakers and screenwriters now have the opportunity to submit film proposals and compete for a total prize fund of Tk 10 lakh. This initiative has been launched to support the creative development of emerging talent.

The Department of Films and Publications (DFP) has taken the initiative to produce two short films based on history, heritage and culture. To support the project, applications and screenplays have been invited from consulting firms, according to a notice published on Sunday (April 26).

Despite their distinct artistic positions, the participating artists share “a commitment to authenticity and artistic integrity,” offering “a nuanced and contemporary perspective on Bangladesh—introspective yet expansive, grounded yet globally resonant.” The exhibition is open to visitors from 10 am to 5 pm, with visits on Saturdays and Sundays available by appointment only.
