What began as a protest for quota reform quickly evolved into a historic student movement that led to Sheikh Hasina's resignation and the fall of her government.

On Sunday (August 4), around 6:15pm, violent incidents led to the destruction of the Gaan Bangla TV building on Pragati Sarani in the capital.

At least 73 people, including 14 policemen, were killed, and dozens more were injured in violent clashes across Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh on the first day of the non-cooperation movement announced by the key coordinators of the students against discrimination movement.

However, the Eid-special film “Toofan” and “Ajob Karkhana”, which premiered on July 12, are still being screened. Additionally, the new Hollywood film “Deadpool & Wolverine” premiered in several multiplexes, including Star Cineplex, yesterday. The third instalment to the Deadpool franchise had its international release on July 26.

Last Thursday, Universal Pictures studio announced that it has acquired the film rights to Britney Spears' best-selling memoir and is now working on developing a biographical movie about the pop star.

However, today musicians in particular, are gearing up to make a significant impact in the music scene, inspired by the lyrics of Bob Marley's renowned song, "Get Up, Stand Up".
